The History of the Practice

In May 2006, two Practices, namely Drs Watson, Goudie & Russell and Drs Dorward, Neville, Nicoll, Lowe and Austin, merged to form what is now known as Westgate Medical Practice.

In April 2010 Dr Watson retired from General Practice and was replaced by Dr Bryan Whittingham. In 2013 Dr Barclay Goudie retired and was replaced by Dr David Hunter. In 2016 Dr David Dorward retired and was replaced by Dr Jill Groome.  In February 2017, Dr Ron Neville retired to be replace by Dr Alison Gallagher. In 2018, Drs Nicoll and Johnston retired and we were joined by Drs Part and Harrison respectively.

Both former practices had worked at Westgate Health Centre since its opening in October 1979.

The building is located in close proximity to a major Teaching Hospital and is well served by public transport. Westgate Medical Practice continues to be actively involved with the training of Junior Doctors and other Health Care Professionals.
